If anyone has used a contractor to do the work that Nicole wants done, please let me know in any of these ways:I'm writing with an Inverness conundrum. We're trying to replace the front door, door frame, and sidelights on our Carnation model, but have been having trouble finding a contractor to do the work. Since the doorframe has a slight curve at the top, this essentially means that a new frame has to be custom built, and there don't seem to be many companies/people to do this.
Do you know of anyone in the neighborhood who has had this done? (i.e a full door frame replacement in addition to the door). Any thoughts from you or the blog audience would be appreciated!

Hi, this is Max Dolinsky from 8165 IRR. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend a good contractor. However, let me advise that you do not use ServiceMagic.com. This is a popular contractor referral service. Not only they charge contractors for each lead. (And the costs are being passed to us.) They use the same contractors over and over and apparently mess with their ratings. When I was leaving negative feedback, is somehow did not appear. So terrible contractors may look like good people, because ServiceMagic published mostly good ratings.
Please note that sometimes ServiceMagic is playing bait and switch. You find a contractor with a local number listed. However when you call, ServiceMagic picks up the phone in Colorado. So I can only tell you which contractors not to use.

I have a contractor who has done multiple projects in my home that I've been very happy with that is willing to buy the materials and do a door/storm door combination for me. I've just been dragging my feet about getting approval, etc. Perhaps if a number of people want to do this, he could bring the price down somewhat as well. You're welcome to come and see the work he's done in my place.
